How to Make a Child Abuse or Neglect Report in San Benito County

If this is an emergency Dial 911 and make your report. Under any other circumstance dial 831-636-4190 and state you would like to make a Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect Report. You will be transferred to a Social Worker. If you receive a voicemail message, follow the directions on this message to ensure timely completion of your report. The Social Worker will ask you questions with the goal of gathering as much information as available to determine if your concerns meet criteria for investigation.

Child Protective Services (CPS)

Child Protective Services provides protection for children who are at risk of, or are experiencing physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, or emotional or physical neglect. The focus is on the safety of the child and support for parents to strengthen families and promote safe nurturing homes for children.  The Agency screens and investigates reports of abuse, neglect, or harm; provides families with referrals to community resources, including (but not limited to) mental health services, domestic violence services, substance abuse services, and parenting education services; provides supportive services to children and families in their homes; provides out of home placement and permanency planning when necessary; and provides services to help foster care youth transition to adulthood.
